SPOTLIGHT ON OUR MIGRANT WORKERS

Beyond the Uniform: A Celebration of Individuality with ItsRainingRaincoats.

At GRAYE, we believe fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a language of self-expression. It tells stories, sparks confidence, and allows individuals to embrace their unique identities. So when ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) approached us with a project aimed at celebrating migrant workers beyond their daily roles, we knew we had to be part of it.

This initiative wasn’t just about fashion—it was about recognition, dignity and inclusivity. It was about seeing the individuals behind the uniforms, their personalities and their stories.

In a heartwarming collaboration, ten Indian and Bangladeshi migrant workers took part in a makeover and photoshoot during Deepavali 2024, organized by ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR)—a charity dedicated to the welfare of Singapore’s migrant worker community.

For a day, these men stepped into a different world—one where they weren’t just laborers but models and individuals in their own right. They received a full makeover, from professional hairstyling and makeup to a complete wardrobe transformation dressed in GRAYE’s contemporary pieces and PEDRO’s footwear and accessories.

It was a simple yet powerful reminder that fashion should be accessible to everyone—regardless of background, occupation, or circumstance.

As our co-founder Xie QianQian put it:

"Fashion is a medium for self-expression. Why not let migrant workers express themselves as well?"

This collaboration with IRR was a humbling and meaningful experience for us. It reinforced why we do what we do—to create not just clothing, but connections. To support initiatives that uplift, empower, and celebrate the individuality of every person.

To the ten incredible men who took part in this shoot—thank you for sharing your stories and your spirit with us. Your presence, confidence and smiles remind us all of the beauty of being seen, heard and valued.
